Hope Mitchell, MD, is the founder and medical director of Mitchell Dermatology

Education

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Mitchell attended the University of Rochester and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She obtained her doctorate of medicine from The Medical College of Ohio (MCO). She also completed an internship in Internal Medicine and a Pathology Fellowship while at MCO and a residency in Dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Mitchell is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Mitchell is an Ohio board-certified medical and cosmetic dermatologist and the founder & CEO of Mitchell Dermatology. With over 25 years of experience in the medical field, she is an accomplished, highly qualified dermatologist and entrepreneur. As the director of operations of Mitchell Dermatology and Commerce Medical Partners, she manages the Perrysburg location and the company’s satellite location in Fremont.

Dr. Mitchell is dedicated to patient-centered care and education and she thoroughly enjoys every scope of her practice, routinely treating hair, skin and nail problems in pediatric and adult patients, with competent and compassionate care. She has extensive experience in general dermatologic education and treatment, acne/complexion treatment, skin cancer diagnosis, treatment and surgery, as well as cosmetic injectables. Dr. Mitchell has subspecialty interest in hair loss, eczema, hyperpigmentation, skin cancer prevention, skin of color and skincare consultations. She has been featured in several media outlets including The New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Post, Shape, Huffpost, Marie Claire, Good Housekeeping, Martha Stewart, GMA, Self, Prevention, Essence, InStyle, The Zoe Report, NY Mag, Bazaar Magazine, and Healthline. Passions

Dr. Mitchell is an advocate for mentorship, education and diversity in medicine and dermatology. She is a consistent mentor to many medical students pursuing medical professions and dermatology as a career. In addition to practicing and overseeing the daily operations of her practice, she creates hands-on shadow experiences for, builds relationships with, and especially encourages female students from middle school through college that have an interest in medicine. She is most proud of founding the Mitchell Dermatology Student Gap Year Internship Program in which she takes 2-4 interns per year who are interested in pursuing medicine after completion of their undergraduate studies.

Her belief is that exposure to the medical field at the earliest age will cultivate confidence, opportunities and diversity in medicine. With a passion for education, Dr. Mitchell proudly serves on the Executive Board as the Vice Chair and Director of Research for The National Medical Association, Dermatology Section.

Dr. Mitchell is a wife and mother of four young adult children. She enjoys ministry, fitness, gardening, antiquing, traveling, spending time with her family and serving the community through her annual free skin cancer screenings.

Dr. Mitchell and her service oriented, efficient and professional staff welcome new and returning patients and are ready to meet every skin care need with an individualized, unique care plan that is deserved.

Hello, my name is Dr. Hope Mitchell. I am the CEO of Mitchell Dermatology and a board-certified dermatologist who has been practicing dermatology for the past 25 years.

I enjoy treating patients of all ethnicities.

A couple of my passions are medical dermatology education and mentorship.

I pride myself on mentoring and giving back to those interested in pursuing careers in the medical field.

When I decided that I wanted to become a dermatologist, I noted many years ago that there were not many dermatologists that looked like me.

And in fact, during my training, skin of color piqued my interest.

I was interested in skin of color. And I decided to start my own practice because I wanted to treat patients who had skin of color conditions.

At Mitchell Dermatology, we see lots of skin conditions.

I see patients that have conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. I see lots of patients in my community that have skin of color.

What I find in those patients is that conditions can look quite different on skin of color, and so I pride myself in being able to diagnose and properly treat those patients.

We welcome new and returning patients at Mitchell Dermatology, come and see us, we would love to take care of whatever skin care needs and concerns that you have.
